Amanda Seyfried Cries Underpayment, Male Co-star Earns 90% More

Amanda Seyfried spills the beans on gender inequality in Hollywood.  'It's not about how much you get, but how fair it is', shares the 'Ted 2' star with Daily Mail.

She has worked with some of fine men in the movie industry, like Channing Tatum, Justin Timberlake and real life boyfriend Dominic Cooper.  So who among these actors was paid 90% more than what Amanda got on payday, despite of what was supposed to be an equal billing?  The Mean Girls alum is not telling.  She puts no blame on her co-stars but against the Hollywood bigwigs and its culture of favoring the leading men.

Meryl Streep, Patricia Arquette, Emily Blunt are award winners, and in their acceptance speeches, have also slammed Hollywood's gender inequality.

Now that Amanda has created her own fame in the hits Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables and Lovelace, she now claims she can be choosy about her roles and about the movies she makes.  She confesses that her decision weighs in on these questions:  what will it to do my reputation as an actor?  What will it do to my career in the long-term?  It is not a big issue for her even if the film being offered is touted to be a box-office hit.

Gender inequality in Hollywood has long been an issue.  In December last year, Hollywood was shocked when the emails of Sony Picture was hacked, and sensitive information were leaked.  Among that was the gold raked in by American Hustle male stars.  Meanwhile, the female leads, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams, took in considerably less.  The irony was that these two women won Golden Globes for their roles in the movie.  Talk about being fair.

In a research done by Expert Market, it states that women earn 22% less than men.  Amanda's paycheck in one of her previous blockbuster films was 90% smaller than that of her male co-stars.  It means that even the rich and famous can still fairly cry underpayment.
