'Supernatural' At SDCC: Jensen Ackles Admits 'Game of Thrones' Addiction

There were several things that were discovered when 'Supernatural' made yet another appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con. Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester in the show, turned out to be a sucker for dad jokes, but he also had to deal with depression and was quickly forgiven by fans.

Popsugar has reported that Jensen Ackles has recently fallen in love with 'Game of Thrones.' The actor, who plays Dean Winchester in 'Supernatural,' admitted the addiction started rather late. In fact, he actually discovered the HBO series while working on Season Nine.

"It was used in the show when Dean is sitting with Charlie [Felicia Day] and having a marathon of 'Game of Thrones' and Dean was like, 'What's Game of Thrones?'" he said. "Well, I actually had that response in real life."

The marathon takes place in the episode 'Slumber Party,' where Sam and Dean enlist the help of Charlie to defeat the Wicked Witch of the West from 'Wizard of Oz.'

"I called Robbie Thompson, who wrote the episode, and was like, 'What is this? Is this the show with a bunch of naked guys running around?'" Ackles said. "He was like, 'No, that's 'Spartacus.'' So he sent me the first two seasons."

The marathon was on.

"It was late at night and I'm home during the week," he said. "My family is down in California and I'm in Vancouver, so I plugged in 'Game of Thrones.'

Ackles admits he was smitten. "I spent the next week or two watching all of seasons one and two," he said. "I turned my wife onto it and now she's fanatical about it. I couldn't walk away from it if I tried."

Jensen Ackles recently wrapped the tenth season of 'Supernatural' and is expected to return as Dean Winchester when Season 11 airs in 2016.
