Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" Confirmed in the Works

Harry Potter is coming back. Nope, not in a prequel-- and that detail has been confirmed numerous times by author J.K. Rowling via her Twitter account. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play that will open in London's Palace Theatre in summer of next year.

For casual and hardcore fans alike, this still comes as a welcome development in the story of The Boy Who Lived. A few more details have been leaked to the eager public. For one, the script will not be written by J.K. Rowling. Instead, the person taking on that role is playwright Jack Thorne. The play will also be directed by John Tiffany. And one more thing: it has been announced that the content of the play will be considered canon.

Fans have been clamoring, wishing, and absolutely begging that a prequel be made by Harry Potter's author since the start. And remember, we are talking about 7 books, 8 movies, and 18 years' worth of diehard waiting. Until that hypothetical day we all read or see a prequel, we shall be content with this new play. Why is that, you ask? Well, Rowling has come up with a couple of tweets explaining that fans too will agree that a play would be the best medium for this story.

That makes things ever more interesting. It seems the story is also in good hands. Jack Thorne penned This is England, This is England 88, and the screenplay of Nick Hornby's A Long Way Down. John Tiffany, on the other hand, directed the award-winning West End and Once, in Broadway no less. Imogen Heap fans should also be thrilled to know that they are performing the musical score.

At the moment nobody can get tickets to this ultra-exclusive show. The London's Palace Theatre has a solid seating capacity of 1,400 covering four floors. To keep updated on this, click here for the official website.
