FlameStower: Stower Develops Candle Charger For Mobile Phones

Andrew Burns of California startup Stower has created a candle charger for mobile phone. The FlameStower converts fire from the candle to electricity. The new innovation is the answer to most phone users' problem during power interruptions occur which is their draining battery.

By simply filling the new device with water and lighting a candle, users can already charge their phones anytime, anywhere. The company made use of the thermo-electric principles which was established in the early 1800's, in the creating the design.

The principle integrated in the generator works with the presence of a cold plate and a hot plate. The two generators create a temperature difference when smashed together thus creating a diffusion of energy from the two different plates.

The diffusion results to the generation of 2-3 watts which is the same amount of power obtained from a USB port. With this amount of power, users can already charge their smartphone and tablets.

Burns himself explained the process which is very helpful especially in emergency situations. He said that even a small amount of energy can go a long way. The portable phone charger is fit for outdoor activities and power outages. According to Burns, mobile handsets or smartphones need only tiny bits of energy to function.

The company has also created a device which can be used to charge phones over a campfire which eases away the worries of people who love outdoor adventures.  The company seems motivated to let people enjoy nature by eliminating some of their concerns.

Stower is currently developing a charger for stove tops in Guatemala. The move is part of the company's plan to expand their business and offer sustainable micro-energy keys in emerging markets.

The promising inventions of Stower could be the answer to one of the most expensive commodity on earth which is electricity.
