Kurt Cobain Death Photos Being Released, Unless Courtney Love And Frances Bean Cobain Have Their Say

Kurt Cobain's death 21 years ago after putting a shotgun on his mouth is one of the most tragic in the music business, as it ended the life of the most iconic figure of the grunge movement - now, his widow Courtney Love and their only daughter Frances Bean are fighting to keep the photos of his dead body private.

For 21 years, there have been a number of Kurt Cobain death conspiracy theories, to the point that the event even has its own Wikipedia page; stemming from this, a recent lawsuit has asked that the photos from his death scene be released to the public, as they'd supposedly show that the Nirvana frontman didn't commit suicide but was murdered.

According to The Guardian, Love and Frances Bean are urging Seattle superior court judge Theresa Doyle not to publically release the photos, claiming it's a major disturbance in their private lives as it would relive hurtful memories of Kurt Cobain's death.

The judge will hear arguments regarding the release of Kurt Cobain's death scene photos on Friday, July 31.

The Daily Mail reports that the recent lawsuit comes from Richard Lee, a Seattle man who runs a public access television show, who sued the city of Seattle as well as its Police Department to release the material that would supposedly prove claims that the rocker was murdered instead of the (mostly) accepted theory that he committed suicide by shooting himself.

"I have had to cope with many personal issues because of my father's death. Coping with even the possibility that those photographs could be made public is very difficult," Frances Bean Cobain wrote to the judge, according to The Telegraph. "Further sensationalizing it through the release of these pictures would cause us indescribable pain."

In her declaration, Frances Bean went on to explain how difficult it had been growing up Kurt's daughter, recounting a time a Nirvana fan waited inside her Los Angeles home for three days because he was convinced her father's soul had "entered [her] body."

News on whether Kurt Cobain's death photos are to be released to the public are expected today.
