Zimbabwe Looking Into American Doctor Who Also Killed a Lion

The international community has been closely following developments on the case of Cecil the Lion which has catapulted American dentist Walter Palmer into worldwide notoriety. However, Zimbabwe is looking into reports that a separate, unrelated, yet similar incident took place in April of this same year.

According to reports, an American doctor hunted down another lion somewhere in Zimbabwe. While the search for Walter Palmer goes along, Jan Casimir Seski is also being sought by the African nation. He was identified to be a gynecological oncologist and heads the Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Dailymail attempted to contact Seski but he only said, "just a minute" before putting the call on hold. Eventually he hung up and all further calls to him had since been transferred directly to his voicemail.

This second poaching scandal came to light as a crackdown on local guides yielded Zimbabwean landowner Headman Sibanda who was arrested on poaching grounds. He has since been cooperating with local officials and pointed to the doctor-hunter.

Investigations on Seski show that he has a particular way of hunting. Instead of a typical rifle, he uses a bow and arrow to hunt down his prizes. He has posed with his many endangered trophies online through various hunter forums and websites. Kills credited to him include ostriches, zebras, elephants, hippos, and many, many others.

The lion he killed may very well be his last one. Africa keeps elephant hunting legal, which is controversial enough, but lion hunting is considered poaching. On Saturday, the wildlife authority of Zimbabwe had suspended hunting of all lions, leopards, and elephants in Hwange, the area where Cecil the Lion was from. Bow and arrow hunts are now only licensed by the heads of the wildlife authority as well.
