A Woman Developed Health Problems After Drinking 28 Cans Of Red Bull Per Day

Lena Lupari, a 26-year old woman from Ireland has developed a disease after drinking 28 cans of Red Bull every day. The mother of three has gained weight from the energy drink which resulted to Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). Due to the daily intake of 3,000 calories, she developed the said condition which caused her brain to swell.

Besides the IIH, the woman also complained about her eye sight which was worsening. She has also been experiencing migraine for five years but did not consult the doctor. She opted for pain relievers because she had no time for herself. Lupari only learned about her condition after she collapsed in June.

Lupari now weighs 364 pounds and is currently unemployed. She admitted that she has been spending 25% of her financial support on Red Bull. About $702.64 of her $2,810.16 monthly benefits goes to the energy drink.

After stopping from drinking the energy drink she lost about 30 pounds. Lupari is now asking for assistance from the government. She claims that the National Health Service is responsible to help her lose more weight. She wants to lose additional 70 pounds so she can avoid medical treatment.

"I don't want a gastric band or surgery but I think they should offer help for someone with this and to motivate them - something like a boot camp," Lupari stated.

Women of Lupari's age are advised to consume 1,800 to 2,000 calories per day. The 3,000 calorie intake of the victim from Red Bull is more than what is required by her body which gave her health problems. Besides the irregular amount of energy drink she consumed, she also admitted usually eating fast-food which worsened her condition.

An 8.4 ounce of Red Bull contains 27g of sugar and 80mg of caffeine. The company recommends drinking less than five cans of the drink per day to avoid health problems.
