'Suicide Squad' Update: Jared Leto Takes Twitter Picture Teasing The Joker's 'Batman: The Killing Joke' Outfit! [PHOTO+VIDEO]

Jared Leto continues to pay homage to 'Batman: The Killing Joke' in his new photo and video!

The 'Suicide Squad' star has posted a Twitter picture of his shadow wearing a wide-brimmed hat. Jared Leto chose not to add a caption to the image, perhaps to tease fans even more.

Although it may just look like Jared Leto is simply out for a hike and has put on the hat to keep the sun away from his chalk-white complexion, fans could not help but wonder if the photo is yet another hint to an especially horrific scene in 'Suicide Squad.'

Will Jared Leto be wearing an outfit similar to the Joker's in 'Batman: The Killing Joke?'

In the popular Alan Moore graphic novel, the Joker takes center stage as his origin story is revealed. In one part of the comics, the Clown Prince of Crime wears a hat, a Hawaiian shirt and some shorts. This is also the part of the comic book where the Joker attacks Barbara Gordon (better known as Batgirl) and cripples her.

If Jared Leto is wearing a similar hat (and outfit), there is a great possibility that the scene will be replicated in 'Suicide Squad.'

This isn't the first time that 'Batman: The Killing Joke' has been hinted upon for 'Suicide Squad.' Director David Ayer's first Twitter photo announcing Jared Leto's involvement was a tribute to the graphic novel. A deleted photo on Margot Robbie's stunt double's Instagram also showed a sign for ACE Chemicals, the same company where the Joker was dumped in a vat of chemicals in 'The Killing Joke.'

Although it was just a one-shot graphic novel, 'Batman: The Killing Joke' had a massive influence on the DC Universe. The crippling of Barbara Gordon has been accepted and has even led to her transformation into Oracle.

Will the Joker attack Barbara Gordon in 'Suicide Squad?' Find out when the film hits theaters on August 6, 2016.
