Ice Cream in Ramen Flavors – Soy Sauce or Curry?

Yokohama's Cup Noodles Museum in Japan has hit 4 million visitors, and is celebrating the event with cup noodles ice cream or ramen ice cream. It comes in two flavors - soy sauce and curry.  It is served on a foam cup, and the choices for toppings are shrimp, green onions, potatoes and carrots.

It is available for 300 yen or $ 2.41 at the museum's 'Noodles Bazaar'. The ramen ice cream is an invention of Nissin, the company famous for its instant ramen noodles, reports Rocket News.

There are two noodles museum in Japan. The Cup Noodles Museum is all about creative thinking.  It encourages visitors to be creative and curious.  Momofuku Ando is the father and creator of instant ramen under the Nissin Food Products Company. He first attempted to invent chicken ramen in 1958. He wanted to make noodles that would be instantly available by just adding water. In 1971, he invented cup noodles after a trip to America. His vision was to make his noodles available worldwide. In 2005, he was very innovative and took a leap preparing for the future by making space ramen. By the name itself, it was ramen that could be eaten in space. The key was in the hot oil instant drying method that Ando himself created.

The Yokohama's Nissin Cup Noodles Museum has various attractions: Instant Noodles History Cube, Momofuku Theatre, Momofuku's Work Shed which is a recreation of the original shed of the founder, wanting to show guests that a great idea can start small, and doesn't have to be fancy.  There is also the Creative Thinking Boxes where one can play and have fun. You can personally make your own ramen in the Chicken Ramen Factory, going through the process of kneading, spreading and steaming your own wheat flour, then drying it.  My Cup Noodles Factory is where, for a fee, you can create your own ramen. Given the ingredients and toppings available, you can choose from any of the 5,460 combinations. And the favorite attraction is the Noodles Bazaar which is like an Asian Night Market. It features eight varieties of noodles that Momofuku has encountered in his travels.
