Booze Truck: Rising Trend

In terms of booze on-the-go, the public had Bar Car, which was introduced in San Francisco in 2014. This year, there is a new bar-on-wheels company called Road Soda. Now you can have your favorite drink anywhere, everywhere and at whatever time you want it.

Due to strict licensing issues for cocktail pop-ups, open container laws and the negative connotations of drinking and driving, it takes more than just guts to get the booze on the road.

Best friends from Manchester, England, Ben Scorah, a bartender, and Mark Wiseberg, an engineer are partners in this business. Wiseberg used to work for Aston Martin, organizing events. He met and fell in love with an American, and moved to the U.S.

His life brought him to various festivals, and Scorah suggested having booze available during these events, like concerts or corporate parties. Now, they are joined by a third person, Mike Doyle who takes care of logistics, getting them from one event to another, and making sure all the alcoholic beverages served are good.

A few months after they started, this one-of-a-kind catering has them serving tens of thousands of cocktails. Road Soda is a sleek, silver 1967 Airstream, giving it a look of a silver bullet.

With an engineer in the group, the equipment and design are tailored to provide quality service and good living conditions to the trio who go anywhere, anytime. They have an ergonomically-correct bar, cocktail-on-draft system, and a spreadsheet that takes care of inventory. 

You can order the crowd-favorite Margarita, or go for a more exotic foamy concoction. Road Bar can be seen in concerts, local fairs, festivals and can also service private parties. 

The need for booze on the go has long been identified, but it took time to get it running because of strict laws in the US. The partners are hoping to expand to the UK in the near future, where booze laws are more lenient.
