'Hannibal' Star Mads Mikkelsen Could Be The Villain In 'Doctor Strange!' Could Hannibal Lecter Play Dormammu?

The wicked NBC series 'Hannibal' may be ending soon, but it looks like the show's star Mads Mikkelsen will still be a very busy man.

Variety has just reported that the 'Hannibal' star is in negotiations to play the main villain in the much awaited Marvel film 'Doctor Strange.' If a deal is made, Mads Mikkelsen will be going up against Benedict Cumberbatch, who will play neurosurgeon turned sorcerer Stephen Strange.

But which 'Doctor Strange' villain will Mads Mikkelsen portray in the Marvel film adaptation?

There have been rumors about the possible 'Doctor Strange' villains who could get featured in the movie. One name that was previously mentioned was Karl Mordo, or Baron Mordo, who will now be played by Academy Award winner Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Baron Mordo's appearance in 'Doctor Strange' could mean that Stephen Strange's ultimate nemesis Dormammu will finally make his big screen debut.

Dormammu's first appearance in the comic book was in 'Strange Tales #126,' although he was previously mentioned by Karl Mordo as he was trying to weaken the Ancient One (to be played by Tilda Swinton in the film). Since his comic book debut, Dormammu has been featured in several 'Doctor Strange' titles and has even teamed up with villains like Loki, Umar and Satannish.

The odds would still be in Mads Mikkelsen's favor even if the actor decides not to take the 'Doctor Strange' offer. The 'Hannibal' star was recently announced to be a part of the cast of the highly anticipated 'Star Wars' standalone film 'Rogue One.'

'Hannibal' was recently cancelled by NBC despite its successful two season run. The show's season finale 'The Wrath of the Lamb' will air on August 29.

'Doctor Strange' will be directed by Scott Derrickson while the script will be written by Jon Spaihts. The film is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
