Jay Leno Might Call It Quits This May

It is rumored in Tinseltown that one of the most popular late night hosts will be leaving his desk and retiring. Numerous sources are speculating that Jay Leno's show will end in May. There are rumors circulating around Hollywood that Jimmy Fallon will obtain his television spot. If Leno decides to call it quits, this will be his second time trying to retire; in 2010 he attempted to leave his hosting career behind due to dissatisfaction with The Jay Leno Show which only lasted one year.

Jay Leno began his successful run as a late night host in 1992, when he succeeded the ever so popular, Johnny Carson. He started his stint as a host filling in for Carson. This caused a bit of controversy between him and David Letterman, who had been hosting his own late night show since 1982. He also got his start in the industry working with Johnny Carson; he was a writer. Late Night With David Letterman had the time slot after the The Tonight Show.

In 2009, Jay Leno ended The Late Night Show With Jay Leno in an attempt to try and  host a prime time show, The Jay Leno Show, which aired at 10pm eastern standard time. Leno was not happy with the show and in March of 2010 returned to hosting The Late Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Jay Leno achieved a long lasting career as a late night host; if he does to decide to pass the torch over to Jimmy Fallon, he will not be losing anything. Think about it, he has a garage filled with muscle cars, motorcycles and sports cars. The funny man will not experience any boredom anytime soon. As for Jimmy Fallon, he definitely has the chops and skill worth taking over that time slot. Fallon gained fame on Saturday Night Live which eventually led him to a hosting career. In 2009, he acquired his own late night show with NBC, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. On his first week he had fellow SNL co-star Tina Fey along with other big names like Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.
