'Eatsa' Is the First Fully Automated Restaurant; Opens Today

The world's first fully-automated restaurant just opened. Eatsa's first branch is located at 121 Spear Street in San Francisco and it promises to completely change the fast food experience, the PR Newswire reports.

"Eatsa is reinventing fast food by combining the speed and affordability of fast food with the delicious flavors and nutritious ingredients of premium fast casual," said Tim Young, co-founder of Eatsa.

He adds, "By developing new technology to automate every aspect of the food experience, we are able to deliver a product with the best qualities of premium fast casual at a price point that is accessible to everyone."

Eatsa has many interesting points. The first is that no meat is served in the restaurant. Instead, quinoa is used. Ordering is done using in-store iPads and orders are served in cubby holes. They also personalize your meal to round up the experience.

Eatsa's meals are also relatively nutritious considering they are fast food. Sarah Fritsche of SF Gate, shares her experience:

"Biggest surprise of all - the meal I ordered, the burrito bowl, was actually good. The quinoa and beans were perfectly cooked, the pico de gallo and guacamole were fresh and flavorful, the mushrooms added a chewy, steak-like texture and the roasted corn kernels offered a nice sweetness. It was also very filling. I had enough leftover to serve as lunch the next day. Not bad for $6.95."

The Embarcadero location is only the first Eatsa branch. The next one is due to open in a couple of months in Los Angeles and another San Francisco location is already in the works. An app is also being currently developed to make the minutes-long process even shorter.

Scott Drummond, Eatsa's other co-founder, explains that their service is "essentially lunch on demand" and that "Eatsa's Order Anywhere concept translates to zero wait time for customers.
