Smith's death is the latest addition of accidental injuries caused when people have been taking photos of themselves in a perilous way.

Just this July, a man from San Diego was hospitalized for almost a week when he attempted to take a selfie with a rattle snake. On the same month, a Russian University graduate lost her life after falling from a bridge while she was talking a photo of herself. Prior to these incidents, last June, a woman from Moscow almost lost her life when she accidentally fired the pistol that was aimed on her temple while taking a selfie.
