Your old school handwritten game is brought to a whole new level thanks to the Wacom Bamboo Spark. Unlike other smartpens in the market today, like the Neo Smartpen N2, LiveScribe Sky, or the Orée Stylograph, this brand new product does not require special paper to digitize your notes, Gizmag reports.
The Wacom Bamboo Spark works with a non-electronic pen and any A5 paper you have lying around, according to Gizmodo. Unlike the aforementioned smartpens which work using a camera-tipped pen, the Spark uses a smart folio where the paper is laid on. The electromagnetic resonance board is able to sense the location of the pen tip and record pen strokes.
It does not matter whether you are taking notes or drawing. The Spark is able to record all pen strokes and be able to plot their positions relative to each other. The Spark folio has an onboard memory which can store up to 100 pages of data. In this way it is also able to save time from the usually annoying pairing and syncing processes of smartpens.
All you have to do is click it on, write down your notes, and switch it back off when done. Once you connect the folio to your Android or iOS device, then the syncing of hi-res digitized notes will begin automatically. Also, you get a free account with Wacom cloud storage Inkspace. The folio is charge via USB and its battery can store up to eight hours of use. Also, the app allows you to edit your notes.
There are, however, a couple of comments regarding the innovative product. The first is the rather large size of the folio at 8 x 10 inches. Many people are used to writing and bringing around something smaller. Also, Spark does not integrate with Evernote, by far the most popular note service available today.
