Grey's Anatomy's lead actress Ellen Pompeo is not afraid to say she is upset with the fans of the show when they all reacted to the death Derek (Patrick Dempsey's character), saying the series is all ruined and there won't be a show without him in the picture.
The actress told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview that the people who were mad about Derek's death has not been easy for her ego.
She said that fans are a bit holding her to a different standard compared to the other shows that Shonda Rhimes have written like the character of Kerry Washington on Scandal and Viola Davis on How To Get Away With Murder according to TV Line.
Ellen Pompeo lamented with the words, "It's like, Annalise Keating carries the show, Olivia Pope carries the show... but somehow, Meredith Grey needs someone. She also ranted as to why can't she just be the lead of the show just like Annalise and Olivia are the leads on their respective roles on their TV series. She even questioned why couldn't she be on a poster of the show without Derek on it?
These were the latest words that came out of the actress' lips since Patrick Dempsey left the show. She once talked about how Meredith is going to handle life without McDreamy now, but she never really brought up the thoughts about Derek's death until now. Back in April, she said, "I am honored and excited to tell the story of how Meredith goes on in the face of what feels like the impossible. I hope you will all join me on her journey" on her Twitter account.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Life reported that Shonda Rhimes can assure the audience that the show will do just fine without Derek's presence in the story. She said, "I have not planned to [bring in a love interest for Meredith], and that's not really the focus of what we're doing with her right now," these were her answers to an interview with Variety this year.
