The Famous California 'Flintstone House' is on the market for $4.2 million

A unique home is being frequented by numerous passers-by within San Francisco California. On Interstate 280, just east of Eugene A. Doran Memorial Bridge, a famous house would greet the crowd as it is painted with bright orange and resembles the home of the famous cartoon characters Fred and Wilma Flinstone.  

As per USA Today, the famous Flinstone House is already up for grabs and is still available in the market. The 2,370 square foot home is located on a hilltop that overlooking Interstate 280 just outside San Francisco. The three bedroom, two bathroom home listed at $4.2 million. The house has been around for 39 years already.

The listing agent, Judy Meuschke posted a status on Facebook last September 1, 2015 stating:

Many of you have seen this house from Highway 280 for years. Your curiosity will be satisfied when you see the great photos," she then added that the asking price is "pretty good price for a landmark, you can see her artworks and her furnishings and the things she collected that she loved this place."

 She then added that the owner choose to remain anonymous despite the house's popularity. The owner has lived in the house for 19 years.

The house was designed by architect William Nicholson which was built in 1976. Aside from being called the Flinstone House, it is also called as the Barbapapa House after the circular, shape shifting creatures featured in a children's book back in the 1970's.

As per San Francisco Curbed, the home is being sold in the market through Alain Pinel Realtors. It causes ripples to home buys as it is already a landmark and the interior of the home is astonishing.

The house was built as an experiment in innovative building materials. The house is entirely formed by using wire mesh and molded balloons.
