'Chocolate Causes Acne' and Other Food Myth You Have to Stop Believing!

Throughout the years, there have been many existing myths and misconceptions about foods, and admit it or not - that affected our perception in fear of having disease or having weird sickness, that, most of the time unscientific and thus, ruin the reputation of our favorite foods.

Huffington Post listed down four common and convincing food myths that people believed in since time in memoriam.

Myth #1 Chocolate causes acne.

"We're thankful that this one's a myth. Some teenagers actually steer clear of chocolate because they think it single-handedly causes acne."

There has been no scientific proof or study that backs up this claim. It's such a relief to know that linking chocolates and acne were a thing of the past!

Myth #2 Eggs are the main cause of high cholesterol.

"Eggs are a nutritional powerhouse, but for a while the egg yolk has been demonized as a cause of high cholesterol. Is it true? Well, the answer is NO."

Dietary cholesterol that is present in egg yolk is not bad for the health. What needs to go is saturated and trans fat that is found in oily foods. So skip the oil and use your non-stick pan for your morning sunny side up.

Myth #3 Calories eaten at night are more fattening than those eaten early in the day.

"The common knowledge today is that a calorie is a calorie. So regardless of when you eat it, what causes weight gain is simply eating more calories than you burn."

Regardless of what time it is, might as well eat in moderation.

Myth #4 You should drink eight glasses of water a day.

"We do need a lot of water for our daily functioning, but 8 glasses is just a too-popular-to-be-ignored figure. In reality, there is no hard rule that says you should consume eight glasses of water daily."

Combining other drinks with water, such as fruit juice, coffee or tea can also help our bodies in its normal functioning.
