NASA Is Getting Huge Publicity, Thanks to Matt Damon's Movie The Martian [SPOILER ALERT]

Ridley Scott's stellar blockbuster, The Martian excites space enthusiasts and sci-fi aficionados alike. Opening on Friday with an estimated $55 million gross in the U.S and Canada, - Matt Damon surely gave justice on his role as a stranded astronaut in Mars.

The movie plot is about a team of astronauts 'actively defying the organization to rescue their friend-whose survival NASA doesn't even make public, at first', the Atlantic reports.

NASA is beyond ecstatic for the huge publicity they are getting because of the movie. The Atlantic reports that the film's focus on the space agency, and 'its futuristic Mars-related exploration technology, is drumming up a lot of invaluable publicity'. This is just the perfect time for the movie to be released since the news broke out which says that there is water in Mars.

While there are actual plans to send astronauts to Mars in 2030 - to discover what lies ahead on the surface of Mars, the space agency has been reportedly undergoing budget cuts each year and they need all the support they can get to be able to execute their projects.

In a post-blog, after the Friday release of the movie, NASA posted awesome graphics that was set to compare and point out similarities of the screenshots of Scott's movie and the actual file photo NASA has, featuring the real surface of Mars, NASA atations, control centers among others.

"NASA published some meticulous image comparisons that explain many of its technologies, such as deep-space propulsion and analog missions, in terms of how they relate to the film. The post already has nearly 2,000 notes on Tumblr", the article writes.
