The Shin-an-ji Temple Rock Garden Is A Zen Garden That You Can Eat and It's Sweet! [PHOTOS]

Zen rock gardens are strategically placed rocks surrounded by raked sand to mimic water ripples - which aim to inspire a state of calm, relaxation and balance in people.

However, this zen rock garden has a different purpose: it satisfies your hunger - or maybe your sweet tooth - thanks to its fully edible ingredients.

"In cities today, people do not have the luxury of gazing at gardens," said Japanese designer Tomonori Saito on the loss of one of Japan's most highly regarded past times.

This very thought was what prompted to create Shin-an-ji Temple Rock Garden - named after a fictional temple, where the rocks are made from black sesame cubes, and the sand is actually a bed of sugar. Unfortunately, the rake included in the boxed set isn't edible.

According to Spoon & Tamago, the collaboration is made by Tomonori Saito and fellow art director Shohei Sawada. Not only that, but they also recruited Japanse wagashi (traditional Japanese candy) artisan Motohiro Inaba to help make the edible rock garden an actual reality.

The Shin-an-ji Temple Rock Garden is actually perfect for work environments - when you're feeling like you need a boost of energy, just pop on candy in your mouth - maybe to help you get through that meeting or just in surviving the long day ahead.

In addition, the edible candy rock garden can also calm you down afterwards, because of the rock garden's ability to induce a state of calm and relaxation. So it's really not just a sweet treat for your cravings, but it really does help those stress levels go down.

It might be difficult to eat these pretty things, but surely you won't be able to resist! Just make sure you got another box full of Shin-an-ji Temple Rock Garden lying around when you finish the first one.
