One Direction believe their upcoming chart battle with Justin Bieber will be for the complete advantage of pop music.
The British pop group and the Canadian crooner have been throwing some banter back and forth over the fact their releasing latest albums "Made in the A.M." and "Purpose" on the same day, Nov. 13.
"It's gonna be a good little battle, it's good for pop culture," Niall Horan told Clyde 1 Radio of the whole fiasco after Justin posted a taunting Snapchat post accusing 1D of doing it for publicity.
On the other hand, Louis Tomlinson insisted the Snapchat response to the "What Do You Mean?" singer was just a bit of a piss take. "We mocked him back. It's all just a bit of a laugh and a joke. Let's have it," the 23-year-old upcoming daddy added.
The alleged spat between Justin and the 1D boys spread like wildfire after the 21-year-old ex-boyfriend of Selena Gomez claimed the simultaneous release was a "strategy" on the Brit band's part. "I'm not really going on the road much, but we're talking about them right now so it gives them some promo, right? That's probably why they did it," he told The Edge. "I think it was strategy on their part, 'cos my release date was first. It's whatever, it's gonna be fun.
"I'm excited to see what happens," Justin added. I think [the title will be revealed] in the next couple of weeks."
Meanwhile, Julian Bunetta -- one of the composers behind the latest song which debuted on music streaming services shortly after it was announced -- revealed in an interview with EW earlier this year that One Direction's upcoming album will include more "Strings and horns" as the Brit band was "experimenting a little with different instrumentation. "We're stretching out outside of the perimeters of what a traditional pop boy band would do," he added.
"Infinity" follows "Drag Me Down" -- the first single from the album and the band's first released song without Zayn, who left the band in March. Soon after, the 22-year-old signed a solo contract with RCA Records.
International Design Times reported last month that the 1D would disband next year. Niall responded to the reports, saying they would just be taking a break and not actually breaking up.
"We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well-earned break at some point next year," the 22-year-old hunky singer wrote in a tweet. "Don't worry though, we still have lots to achieve! Can't wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform some new songs at the tor [sic] continues! Love you all xx."
