Adele '25' Could Beat Taylor Swift's '1989’; Makeup Album Better Than Breakup Album?

Adele's "25" is here, and it appears that her new album is set on breaking records once again, probably even beating records Taylor Swift's "1989" has crated.

To promote "25," the "Someone Like You" singer took to different forms - both social media and television. On Instagram, Adele created an account and promoted "Hello," her first single for "25," which she revealed to be coming out on November 20.

On Twitter, Adele posted an emotional open-letter describing "25" as a "make-up" rather than a "breakup" album.

The six-time Grammy winner also took to social media to share to her fans a full tracklist of "25," of which are:

  • "Hello"
  • "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)"
  • "I Miss You"
  • "When We Were Young"
  • "Remedy"
  • "Water Under the Bridge"
  • "River Lea"
  • "Love in the Dark"
  • "Million Years Ago"
  • "All I Ask"
  • "Sweetest Devotion"

Earlier this month, the 27-year-old singer also got fans excited with a preview of "Hello" during an X-Factor U.K. commercial. The short 30-second-clip showed her song's lyrics on a black screen.

Friday is the official release of the music video of "Hello," to be directed by Canadian director Xavier Dolan and to be available for purchase on October 23.

Four years away from the spotlight certainly brought a new perspective. Married since 2011, life has changed for the mother of one, and "25" could very well be another massive life-changer for the "Rolling in the Deep" singer's career.

Many are already wondering whether Adele's new make-up album could beat Taylor Swift's breakup album, "1989."

Adele has taken a cue from T Swift and withheld sharing her album on Spotify. Insiders close to the British singer reportedly told Digital News that releasing "25" on Spotify is "still questionable," adding that "[Adele] wants some assurance that the release will be gated. It's still questionable."

With "1989," Swift matched Adele's sales with "21." "1989" has sold over 2 million units, in addition to 3.6 million sold in 2014, but with everyone waiting in anticipation for "25," that record could easily be broken.

According to Celebuzz, "1989" has left an impact, but this impact is a different impression, one probably far from the influence "25" could have since publicity for "1989" mostly focused on Taylor's celebrity - her squad, Twitter feud with Nicki Minaj, seemingly unending beef with Katy Perry, to name a few.

During her album's release, Adele has already signed deals with NBC "for four big TV looks," of which include special appearances on NBC's "Today Show" and "Saturday Night Live," according to The Inquisitr.

It may be too soon to tell whether Adele will beat Taylor Swift, but with her 21 album in 2011 selling over 11 million copies in the U.S. alone and winning 6 Grammys along with it in 2011, breaking Taylor's records isn't too hard to imagine.
