Carrie Underwood’s Work-Life Balance Gives Her “Mom Guilt”

Carrie Underwood, is in her pure poise whether on the red carpet, on stage and even on TV. But the singer said she's finding it tough to strike a balance these days.

Underwood shared her feelings towards her son Isaiah who was born in February saying, "I think mom guilt is rampant in my life. I am sure it is in any mom's... I still constantly wonder, 'Is this fair to him? Is my life fair to him?'"

Her new album "Storyteller" has been released Friday. The first time mom knows the exhaustion from being up all night having a finicky baby throughout the week of her album launch but also regrets in saying 'good-bye' to her baby every morning knowing she'll be working long after his bedtime.

Underwood shared that, "He's my No. 1 priority, but it's just a question of how am I going to do this?... I'll probably never find the answers to those questions."

One song she did co-wrote is "What I Never Knew I Always Wanted," this is a reflection of her realizations that motherhood filled an opening she did not know she had.

When she was pregnant she wrote songs for "Storyteller," and she is certain that at first she wasn't prepared to sing in relation to the joys of motherhood.

"I would have writing dates with people and they would come in and push me in that direction," Underwood said. "And I was like, 'Eh, no.' I do not want to write an album of mushy baby songs. Or mommy songs. That is not me."

"I think it had to be my doing to come in with the idea, or I would have resisted forever," she said. "But it ended up being very personal and I think perfect for the album."

That's presently a single way that Underwood kept  away from doing what was likely for her fifth studio album. She worked with two new producers, Jay Joyce and Zach Crowell, beside her is her regular producer Mark Bright.
