Ten Variants of Curry Chicken and Deli Pasta Salads to be Recalled by Whole Foods

USDA announced Saturday a recall of some Whole Food Market' curry chicken salad products.

The establishment of Whole Foods Market located in Everett, Massachusetts, will be recalling about 234 pounds of curry chicken salad products. These products maybe contaminated by with listeria monocytogenes, which causes a rigorous and life-threatening disease.

The possible infected chicken curry salad was packaged on October 16 with a sold-by date of Oct. 23. The products were sold prepackaged, in salad bars, in store's chef's cases, and in sandwiches and wraps prepared in the stores, a press release said.

U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service had discovered the problem after being informed of sample trial results conducted by Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island are some locations where the products are allegedly shipped. One of release said that there have been no definite reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

Fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions are few symptoms of Listeriosis. Sometimes this case was preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. Weakening of the immunes system are symptoms found on older adults, pregnant women and their newborns.

Anyone who are experiencing a high-risk category of flu-like symptoms for two months after eating contaminated food is encouraged by USDA FSIS to seek medical treatment and infected products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
