Robin Thicke Blurred Lines Deposition: Singer Reveals He Was High and Drunk For Every 2013 Interview

New unsealed videos of singer Robin Thicke's ''Blurred Lines" deposition shows him discussing issues of him being high on drugs and alcohol (which he admitted to last year) with Richard Busch, an attorney for Marvin Gaye's estate.

In late 2013, the family of crooner Marvin Gaye accused singer and rapper Pharrell Williams and Thicke of having elements from Gaye's song "Got To Give It Up" in their 2013 smash-hit "Blurred Lines." The case went to trial earlier this year.

In another video, Thicke admitted to frequently using the substance Vicodin. "I didn't do a single interview last year without being high on [alcohol and Vicodin]," Thicke confessed. In his 2014 interviews, he stated "With all due respect, I was high and drunk every time I did an interview last year."

Gaye's children brought a case against Pharrell Williams and  the 38-year-old Thicke, with regards to plagiarism.

Both Thicke and Williams denied ripping off Gaye's song, but in March a jury sided with the now-deceased singer's family and awarded the estate $7.3 million. A judge later cut that figure to $5.4 million.

The case is heading toward an appeal. And THR has obtained the video of the key deposition in the case.

Along with Pharrell Williams deposition, which THR also has obtained, the video shows what it’s like for artists to be under fire, forced to tell the truth with nowhere to hide.

Thicke will soon go to an appeals court to dispute that there were improper legal decisions that led to a jury’s verdict. Fortunately for him, these clips from his deposition won’t trail him there.

"Blurred Lines," best known for its controversial video, spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the charts and has sold more than 7.3 million copies in the U.S. alone, according to Neilsen Soundscan figures.
