Sam Smith Says Spectre Theme Song ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ Is ‘Horrible To Sing’

Many musicians would do anything just to have a James Bond theme song on their resume, but it seems like Sam Smith is not one of them.

The 23-year old singer-songwriter, who was luckily chosen to sing for the 24th James Bond movie 'Spectre', appears to be a little uncomfortable at having to sing the movie's theme song 'Writing's on the Wall'.

On Friday, October 23, Smith guested on the British talk show 'The Graham Norton Show' together with the 'Spectre' stars Christoph Waltz, Daniel Craig and Naomi Harris to promote the movie.

Before Sam Smith was about to kick off a live performance of the song for the first time, he quickly joked about how difficult it could be for him to belt the high notes of the song.

"I've only actually sung the song once, really. Because I did the demo in the studio, and they used that. It is horrible to sing. Horrible," Smith said. "I almost regret, no, I don't regret."

When being asked why, the singer gave a blank stare and quickly followed it with a smile, saying "It's just so high. I have to grab my balls, it's awful."

Though Smith actually sounded like a little concerned if he could deliver the song the exact way that it has to be sung, especially on the belting part, the soulful singer who was joined by an orchestra, performed the tune pretty well while fronting a crowd of studio audiences.

Following the release of his new James Bond theme song 'Writing's On The Wall', Sam Smith is reportedly taking some time off from the spotlight.

"I am sad, but also it feels right," Smith said during his Hollywood Bowl performance over the weekend. "It's my last performance in America, and it feels right to do it in such  a beautiful setting."
