Ronda Rousey: UFC Champion Makes History As First MMA Fighter To Cover Ring Magazine

Ronda Rousey, UFC women's bantamweight champion will be the first MMA athlete to be featured as a cover model for sport's long-running boxing Ring Magazine in January 2016.

As reported by Brent Brookhouse of MMAjunkie, the Ring has been a magazine that has typically focused on the sport of boxing in recent years, branding itself as “The Bible of Boxing.”

This is the first MMA cover story since 2007, the last one was when Roger Huerta was featured in an action shot profiling the sport’s rise.

Roger Huerta is an American mixed martial artist who initially gained exposure by competing in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and later, on the Bellator Fighting Championships.

The UFC bantamweight champion has defended her status as the biggest name in the brand after invading her way past an array of opponents. She will once again defend her title against Holly Holm, a fighter with a broad boxing background, in Melbourne, Australia, on November 15.

It's an event that is expected to break attendance records for the brand, per MMAFighting.com.

Holm was picked to face Ronda Rousey for her Bantamweight championship at UFC 195 in January 2016. Holly Holm is best known as a former professional boxer and current MMA fighter.

Holly married Jeff Kirkpatrick on April 27, 2012. Her father was a preacher at Bosque Farms Church of Christ for 18 years, which is why her nickname is “The Preacher’s Daughter.”

Rousey being the first MMA competitor to front up the Ring since it was first released in 1922, is  actually the second woman to ever have the privilege. The first was Cathy “Cat” Davis back in 1978, per Martin.

Rousey’s presence is the latest emphatic gauge of her growing worldly gravitas.

She also became the first woman to win a medal in the Olympic Games in 2008, taking the bronze for Judo in Beijing.

In addition to UFC, she has starred on Ultimate Fighter and landed her first movie roles in Expendables 3 and Fast & Furious 7.

Ronda Rousey has hardly talked about her dating life, but that she doesn’t have much time for it and men are afraid to approach her.
