Drake Returns to No. 1 on Billboard Artist 100, Demi Lovato & Pentatonix Surge

In the recent Billboard Artist 100 chart, rapper Drake reigned at the no. 1 spot while Demi Lovato and Pentatonix's new albums made it to the top 5, according to Billboard.

Reports say that Drake soared his ranking from placing third to reaching the first spot during its sixth week, beating Taylor Swift and The Weeknd's records.

According to the recent artists' activity which is technically based from Billboard's collected data from albums sales and track sales, Drake is up by 4 percent with a 43 percent increase in his digital song sales and 78 percent of his social reaction.

What pushed Drake to hit the no. 1 spot was his latest single 'Hotline Bling' with its official music video released via Apple Music last October 19, giving its total sales a 29% increase with 153,000 downloads sold.

Demi Lovato and Pentatonix on the other hand, were in a close fight in the Billboard music charts. While the a capella group scored higher on their new self-titled album with 88,000 units sold, beating Lovato's 'Confident' with 77,000 units sold, Lovato still ranked higher on the Billboard Artist 100 due to a much higher number on radio airplays, music streaming, digital song sales and social reaction.

In addition, Lovato's current standing for the single charts slips from rank 58 to 31 on Billboard's Hot 100 while her recent hit single 'Cool for the Summer' currently ranks at spot no.42.

Meanwhile, Pentatonix finally joins the Billboard's Hot 100 with their 'Can't Sleep Love' placing at no. 99. Besides Drake, Demi Lovato and Pentatonix, who all reigned at the top spots of the Billboard music charts, The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Adele are also hitting the Billboard's Artist 100, with Adele's new single 'Hello' expected to be at no. 1 on the Hot 100 next week due to its current record-breaking sales.
