Raven-Symone Getting Fired? Thousands Sign Petition To Oust Her From 'The View'

Fans want Raven-Symone fired from The View cast after she seemingly defended the officer who assaulted a black teenager at Spring Valley High School.

The 29-year-old may have drawn the final straw with The View fans when she victim-shamed the student that was assaulted by an officer for using her phone. They’ve started a petition to remove her from the panel, and thousands of signatures may have her job in real trouble.

When shocking video surfaced of Spring Valley High School Resource Officer Ben Fields slamming a female student to the ground for using her phone in class, people were understandably appalled.

The latest drama took place during Tuesday’s View after-show, which is posted online. Raven-Symone and fellow hosts Paula Faris and Michelle Collins discussed the shocking video of white police officer Ben Fields assaulting an African-American girl at a South Carolina high school.

While Raven-Symone did not defend the cop’s behavior, she did argue that the victim deserved some blame, as well, for not listening to authorities.

Raven-Symoné did add that Fields has a history of violent behavior. But she reiterated that both he and the student were in the wrong.

“He was actually sued for false arrest, excessive force and battery in 2007 after a couple accused him of manhandling them,” Raven-Symoné said of Fields. “He has a record and he’s still hired, but at the same time, get off yo phone! You’re in school; get off yo phone! What are you doing on Instagram?”

Now, nearly 50,000 signatures have been collected on a Change.org petition addressed to Barbara Walters to remove her from her post at The View, and that number is rapidly increasing.

But reps have already denied recent reports that Raven-Symone would be demoted. And with all these controversies bringing new attention to The View, producers won't want to get rid of her anytime soon.
