Harrison Ford's Plane Crash: 'This Was Not Like a Movie'

Harrison Ford, who is an experienced pilot, delved into details about his near-fatal accident for the first time, seven months subsequent to his vintage plane crashed at L.A. golf course.

The 73-year-old actor, become visible on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday (dressed as a hot dog) for the late night show's Star Wars themed Halloween episode.

Ford began recalling his March accident, "Yeah I remember. Not all of it, I remember some of it."

"I remember the engine stopping, I remember that part very well. And then I remember the tower, I remember their suggestion. Their suggestion was that I take the normal route to land and I knew I wasn't going to do that, so I said no. And that's the last thing that I remember until five days afterwards actually," he added.

The star can be heard reporting his emergency in air traffic control audio, saying "Engine failure, requesting immediate return." Air traffic controllers quickly responded to Ford, "Clear to land." Later, a controller reports: "It looked like it was short of the runway."

The actor make known that he suffered retrograde amnesia, a memory-loss  of access to events that happened before his injury - based on his doctors.

Kimmel asked the Star Wars icon "Was it like being in a movie?" And he replied, "this was not a movie."

When the hoist asked, "You landed on a golf course did you yell 'fore' as you came down?" Ford made light of his crash and joked: "For...d!"

Ford, the father of five, had suffered critical injuries that included a large laceration on his scalp and also some broken bones. He remained in the care of the hospital for almost a month.

National Trasportation Safety Board realeased a report regarding Ford's accident, Based on it, the cause of the accident was engine malfunction.
