The premiere of CBS drama "Supergirl" did not only again praises from fans but higher ratings as well.
Deadline shared that the TV series posted solid, not spectacular Live+3 gains: +3.17 million viewers (+24%) to 16.13 million and +0.99 in adults 18-49 (+32%) to 4.1 rating. That was below the lifts fellow neophyte Monday drama, NBC's "Blindspot," got for its debut episode (+4.59 million viewers, +43%; 1.34 18-49 rating. +43%).
"Supergirl had enough Live+same day cushion in Live+same day to remain the season's #1 series premiere in viewers in L+3," the entertainment news outlet reported. "Among adults 18-49, the Supergirl and Blindspot premieres finished tied in Live+same day with a 3.1 rating, the highest for a new series this fall. In Live+3, Blindspot moved ahead with a 4.5 ratings vs. 4.1 for Supergirl, which is ranking as No.2 among all new programs in the demo."
The 18-49 lift of a 1.34 rating of the Oct. 26, 2015 episode of "Supergirl"was third highest behind CBS' "The Big Bang Theory," which earned 1.62 rating to 6.0, +62%, and "Blindspot," which got 1.34 rating to 3.5, +62%.
"Supergirl" followed Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) as she embraced her secret character as Superman's cousin, flies around throwing shade at her haters and gets involved in a casual love triangle.
"Here's the deal with Supergirl: She was sent to Earth to watch over her cousin (aka Superman), but her ship got trapped in a time portal, delaying her arrival in the process. By the time Supergirl finally showed up, Superman was like, "LOL, nope," and pawned her off to a family of normal," Us Weekly shared. "As a result, she spent most of her life decidedly un-super, which makes her an extremely relatable protagonist. In fact, it's only when Supergirl saves her stepsister from a plane crash that she comes to terms with her powers."
