Lay's Relaunches 'Do Us A Flavor' Contest With Help From Wayne Brady (VIDEOS)

Back by popular demand, Lay's potato chips is promoting its "Do Us A Flavor" contest, where fans nationwide can submit ideas for a new potato chip flavor, for the chance to win a $1 million grand prize.

According to Business Insider, Lay's brand will celebrate fans' flavor ideas with assist from Wayne Brady. The actor and singer will be improvising real-time, personalized suggested by users via Twitter and Instagram.

"Food and flavor are such a natural passion point for people, when you think about it, everyone has a story to tell about a great meal or the first time they tried their favorite dish," Brady said, according to the Insider. "The hope is that by having some fun and celebrating these unique flavors, we'll help inspire even more delicious flavor ideas for America's consideration."

The Emmy Award-winning entertainer put his skills to the test on Wednesday by selecting consumer flavor ideas and turning them into hilarious comedic sketches and musical videos.

For this year's competition, fans will be able to choose from three potato chip forms - Lay's Original, Lay's Kettle Cooked and/or Lay's Wavy, for their flavor ideas. To submit fans are asked to provide a "flavor name, three ingredients, and the chip style." Contestant must also provide a short description for their flavor.

"Even though we could only pick one grand prize winner last year, the millions of delicious ideas submitted by fans demonstrated that we have only begun to scratch the surface of the possibilities we could bring to the snack aisle," said Ram Krishnan, vice president of marketing, Frito-Lay. "This time around, we're offering consumers even more opportunities to demonstrate and celebrate their creativity, love of yummy flavors... We can't wait to see what America's taste buds will inspire next."

Starting July 2012, the "Do Us A Flavor" contest has received over 12 million entries. The first contest asked fans to choose from bacon, apple, or cheese flavored chips. Last year, fans voted that Lay's Cheesy Garlic Bread flavored potato chips, created by Karen Weber-Mendham, a children's librarian from Land O' Lakes, Wis., was the next great flavor.

According to Potatopro.com, this year judges will be made up of chefs, foodies and flavor experts, who will work together to narrow down the selections to the final four flavors, which are left to be selected by fan votes. The winner will be unveiled in November 2014.

The runners up will each receive $50,000 in prize money. The winner will be rewarded $1 million or one percent of their flavor's net sales for one year.

Fans can submit their ideas through www.dousaflavor.com or on www.YouTube.com/Lays. Submissions can also be entered through the Lay's Facebook Page.

The contest is open until April 5, 2014.
