The 'Iron Fist' TV Series Might Get Cancelled, But With An Exciting New Twist Involving Jon Bernthal's The Punisher!

Fans may still be waiting for any news about the planned 'Iron Fist' TV show that will round out the 'Defenders' miniseries with Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Although the other characters' TV shows have already been heavily marketed, there has been no word about Daniel Rand's solo outing for an uncomfortably long time.

So what will be happening to the 'Iron Fist' TV series? If you believe a recent rumor that has been making its rounds on the internet, there's a possibility that it won't push through. There have been speculations that the 'Iron Fist' show will be replaced with a new series starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle aka The Punisher.

But before 'Iron Fist' fans start lighting their torches and screaming for justice, Peel The Orange has an update from an anonymous source who works for the Marvel Creative team:

"Marvel will be turning Iron Fist into a Netflix exclusive feature film. This will give Marvel extra time and a larger budget for this project. The Punisher will replace Iron Fist as one of the four Defenders," the source said in an email.

Although the news has to be taken with a grain of salt, the possibility of an 'Iron Fist' movie for Netflix sounds like an excellent idea not just for Danny Rand fans but also for The Punisher. Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle will be making an appearance in the second season of 'Daredevil,' and the positive response on the casting could prove that a solo Punisher series would be a hit as well.

Iron Fist was created by Roy Thomas and was frequently partnered with another power punching superhero Luke Cage. In the comic books, Daniel Rand has also disguised himself as Daredevil to hide Matt Murdock's secret that he is the masked vigilante.
