Halle Berry: Breaking Silence After Olivier Martinez Divorce

After making headlines about her shocking divorce from Olivier Martinez, Halle Berry is finally opening up and breaking her silence.

Halle Berry was at a charity event on Wednesday for the organization, Jenesse Center, Inc., for domestic violence prevention and intervention. While at the event, she opened up to Extra about how she's doing:

"I'm doing okay, I really am. I, I keep pushing and I'm really happy to be here. Whenever you're going through anything in life, when you step outside yourself and focus on others, that's always the best remedy for any situation that you'd rather not be dealing with."

People also reports: "When asked whether her daughter, Nahla, 7, knows how strong her mother is, handling the split and now being a single parent, Berry laughed."

As for her answer, Halle Berry had this to say:

"Oh yeah, you should be in my house! [...] Maceo didn't go trick-or-treating cause he has the chicken pox, Nahla was a zombie cheerleader and we had a great [time] [...] I was a pirate and she [Nahla], she's like, 'You're a sexy pirate mommy.' I'm like, 'What do you know about a sexy pirate?'"

This was the first interview Halle Berry has given since her divorce surfaced on the media almost two weeks ago. It seems as though the timing was perfect, since Halle Berry delivered a moving speech at the event.

Not only did she talk about her own experiences with domestic violence, but she also voiced how she feels regarding her life purpose to help others:

"I saw my mother battered and beaten many years of my life and I felt helpless. [...] And that's what connects me to this organization. I have an understanding, a knowing. I feel like I have something that I can impart to these women. It seems like I've overcome it, but I really haven't. In the quiet of my mind, I still struggle. So while I'm helping these women, I'm helping myself through it, too. And that's largely why I'm here."

It's happy to see Halle Berry staying positive and strong, as well as empowering other women despite the own struggles in her life.
