Sprucing Up the Old Favorite: Surprisingly Yummy and Simple Beer Cocktails

Beer is a way of life. Nowadays, there are thousands of different kinds available thanks to the explosion of craft beer. However, is there a way to make beer even more exciting? The simple answer is yes. Beer cocktails may not be the most popular drinks in town but one thing is for sure, they do taste amazing.

Geek listed a few examples that you should try. The first stop for anyone trying out a beer cocktail is a shandy. A shandy is very simple to make. Use soda (fruit soda works), ginger ale, more beer, and even fruit juices for a delicious twist to your usual beer-in-a-mug. When cola is used, Germans would call this concoction Diesel. Sounds scary but it does taste surprisingly good and it is very easy to drink.

Speaking of juices, one of the more interesting fruit juices that can be added to beer is banana juice. Yes, there is such a thing. In Germany, this particular mix is called Bananaweizen. Getting drunk and avoiding leg cramps sounds like a good thing indeed.

Next up is the sake bomb. Simply drop a shot glass of sake into a glass of beer and the sake bomb is ready to be enjoyed. Try it with light and dark beer for a delicious and potent upgrade to the old favorite. Sake bombs are also a lot of fun to prepare. Getting carried away is easy but on your fourth or fifth, the sake bomb will prove its worth.

The Potsdamer is another German invention. Escape Here noted that a light-colored beer such as a Weissbier must be used with equal parts soda. A shot of raspberry syrup is added and gives the Potsdamer is signature red color. More adventurous drinkers can opt out of the soda and just give differently flavored syrups a shot.

For a slightly more complicated cocktail, The Daily Meal also suggests the pumpkin beer cocktail. Use a half ounce of pumpkin spice liquor, another half ounce of whisky (Crown Royal in this case), and a 12 ounce beer, in this case Molsen XXX which is a 7.3 % ABV Canadian beer.
