Fallout 4: Review Embargo Time, Clueless Gamer, Pip-Boy App Secrets, and Other News

Fallout 4 is almost here. Bethesda Game Studios' highly anticipated game drops this Tuesday. To tide you over, here's some of the most recent notable news regarding the post-apocalyptic role playing epic.

A report from Kotaku detailed the game's unusual review embargo scheme last Friday. According to the article, websites can begin posting reviews of the game at 8:00 AM on Monday, November 9, 2015.

This news on its own is nothing surprising. Numerous video game publishers impose embargos on the press to ensure that reviewers have had ample time to test the game and to prevent publications from rushing out reviews to gain more attention. What's surprising about Fallout's case is the fact that Bethesda provided an embargo to the embargo.

Kotaku's report included an email which revealed the exact date that the press can tell their readers about the review embargo itself.

"If you'd like to reveal when your review or launch coverage will run, you can share beginning this Friday, November 6 at 10 a.m. PST." It reads.

Why Bethesda would want to keep this information under wraps is unclear.

On the subject of video game reviews, fans will be happy to know that Conan O'Brien has a special, Fallout themed edition of his popular 'Clueless Gamer' segment coming on Monday.

The short video series features the talk show host 'reviewing' video games using his trademark brand of humor. Some of his most noteworthy episodes include this hilarious review of The Witcher 3 and his Halo 5: Guardians throw down with the cast of Silicon Valley. We're hoping the Fallout 4 review is just as good.

If all of these little tidbits aren't enough to hold you over until the release, why not give the game's recently released pip-boy mobile companion a try? Polygon has a detailed piece about some of the app's hidden secrets.
