Nina Dobrev and Ashley Benson: 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'Pretty Little Liars' Stars In Talks To Star In ‘Baywatch’ Remake

The key to reboot success is 'casting' and it seems that the studio behind the new Baywatch reboot got that message.

First, Zac Efron and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson were cast in the lead roles. Now, they're screen-testing some of the most buzzed-about young actresses in Hollywood for the female lead.

Although no one can take over for Pamela Anderson and Yasmine Bleeth — but Paramount is sure going to try.

According to Deadline: Alexandra Daddario, Pretty Little Liars‘ star, Ashley Benson, The Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dobrev, Straight Outta Compton‘s Alexandra Shipp, Teen Wolf‘s Shelley Hennig, The Duff‘s Bianca Santos and Big Time Rush‘s Denyse Tontz are on the shortlist of actresses to take on that epic red one-piece in the remake of 'Baywatch.'

It may seem crazy that Ashley Benson and Nina Dobrev would audition for a Baywatch remake — especially when the original movie wasn't a huge success. Plus, both ladies have extremely popular TV franchises under their belts.

But then again, The Rock has had a lot of success as the king of reboots. He even breathed new life into The Fast and the Furious franchise. So perhaps, the lineup is a sign of blockbuster success.

The "Baywatch" movie is a real thing that is happening, so everyone is just going to have to learn to deal with that fact. But fans should know this isn't just some dull reboot, with star Dwayne Johnson promising the comedic take on the material co-starring Zac Efron, will be R-rated.

“It’s BIG. Me and bud @ZacEfron been talkin’ bout this one for a long time. And someone get my baby oil. #RatedR,” Dwayne tweeted after the news came out. Zac also retweeted, and wrote “So stoked brother – baby oil for 2 plz.”

The movie will be directed by Seth Gordon, and the male leads are obviously pretty excited about it.
