US President Obama Has Finally Joined Facebook - Find Out What's Great About His First Post Ever

U.S. President Barack Obama has finally joined the bandwagon - creating his personal Facebook page on Monday, Nov.9. And in a span of only an hour, over 45,000 people clicked “like” on it as soon as it went "live". Being one of the most influential leaders and nation builders, he invited everyone to "take a walk with him in his backyard" - which is also a simple thing he tries to do at the end of the day before he heads in for dinner.

The New York Times showed his first ever post in his newly created Facebook page:

"Hello, Facebook! I finally got my very own page," Mr. Obama's posting said. "I hope you'll think of this as a place where we can have real conversations about the most important issues facing our country - a place where you can hear directly from me, and share your own thoughts and stories. (You can expect some just-for-fun stuff, too.)"

This has received lots of comments and likes from different people around the globe. Many get enthusiastic about reading posts from the U.S. President himself, the man whose usual hectic schedule is dominated and loaded with meetings, briefings, and conferences with different leaders and media across the globe. Most internet users look forward to his posts, be it random thoughts, photos, or anything under the sun, and most importantly, his replies to comments posted by his "virtual friends and followers".

In his first post, Obama encouraged all the FB users to help "preserve our beautiful planet" for the next generations while he also challenged everyone to "take serious steps to address climate change once and for all". "But we've got to do more. In a few weeks, I'm heading to Paris to meet with world leaders about a global agreement to meet this challenge," he shared.

He also believes that since there are nearly three in four adults online use Facebook, this initiaitve feels like a great place to educate one another about climate change.

"Share your thoughts in the comments, and pass this message on to folks you think need to see it. If we're all in this together, I'm confident we can solve this and do right by future generations,” he ended his first post in his personal Facebook page.
