'Warcraft' Star Toby Kebbell Opens Up About The Effect Of 'Fantastic Four' On Fans And His Own Career

Duncan Jones' upcoming film adaptation of the video game 'Warcraft' is lucky to have an amazing cast, which includes Toby Kebbell, who played the brilliant Dr. Doom in the box office flop 'Fantastic Four.' In an interview with IGN, the English actor spoke about how he felt over the film's disappointing reception.

"I was disappointed, but the fans aren't wrong," Kebbell said. "The fans want what they want to see and if they don't get satisfaction, they let you know. I appreciate that as a performer."

The 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' star continued to explain that although he felt that the movie got the right direction, it was ultimately the 'Fantastic Four' fans who had the last say.

"My job is to come in and perform as best I can, and hopefully be directed in that path, and I felt like I was. I felt like the film was going to go well," he said. "It didn't turn out that the fans felt that way, so their reaction is honest, I can only appreciate honesty."

Toby Kebbell also admitted that he learned a few lessons from playing Victor von Doom.

"I don't know if I learned anything from Doom apart from, perhaps, when I see something I don't agree with, to voice that immediately. I think that's important," he said, adding that the lesson was something that affected his career.

"As an actor, you're very conscious that your career is at stake with each job, especially on these larger productions. A film like that comes out, and I'm being sent maybe four scripts in a week and those scripts go to zero when it doesn't come out successful. So it actively affects my career," he said.

In addition to that, Toby Kebbell said that Victor Doom's attitude in the film would have worked in helping 'Fantastic Four' see the mistakes during the moviemaking process.

"I think it's vitally important that if there's a problem on set, that it's voiced and we solve it there, and I think that collaboration's very important," he said. "Not to say that didn't happen on set, but the collaboration is vital. If we don't do that, then we suffer."

Toby Kebbell stars as the Orcish leader Durotan in 'Warcraft,' which is scheduled for release on June 10, 2016.
