Daisy Ridley Shares Her Diet and Training Regimen to Get in Shape for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Leading lady Daisy Ridley revealed in the December issue of Elle magazine what she did to stay in shape for the latest installment of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.'

The 23 year old actress, who plays formidable heroine Rey in the movie franchise revealed that she avoided carbs and only ate "lots of fish, legumes, and spirulina shakes" to get into shape for the sci-fi saga. Her workouts were five hours a day and five days a week. But though she lived on diet and intense workouts, she insisted that it became her "solace" as "it's the only thing structured in my life right now." "Training is sort of a therapy session," she added.

But it seems that her intense diet is not the only challenge she's facing during the filming of the upcoming movie, she revealed that she will be facing deadly creatures soon for one of the scenes of the movie.

"We were told about this scorpion in Abu Dhabi that, if it stabbed you, you needed treatment within half an hour," she recalled to the magazine. "There was this bit where I was lying in the sand, and if a scorpion got me, the nearest hospital was an hour away. So I was like, I could die right now. I could be dead in half an hour."

The actress is also hopeful that her character in the movie can inspire many women and insisted that females don't need to flash their flesh just to be noticed by the others. "[Rey is] so strong. She's cool and smart and she can look after herself. Young girls can look at her and know that they can wear trousers if they want to," Daisy explained. "That they don't have to show off their bodies."

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will hit theaters on Dec.18.
