Most Addictive Food Award Goes to...Pizza!

Busy people opt to choose the kind of food that is easy to make so it can save them some time. Something that can save them a lot of time but at the same time fill their stomach. In this generation, when you ask people what they want to eat at almost any given time of day, there is only one answer. That is Pizza.

According to KCET, a study that was made last 2011 showed pizza to be the second most popular food in the world. After half-a-decade later, the foods' popularity continues to grow. In fact we can now say that Pizza is one of the most addictive foods ever. based on a study which was published in PLOS One last February. The study cited other "most addictive" items on the list like French fries, chocolates, soda and of course topping the list is Pizza.

Researchers from the University of Michigan studied two groups of people, there were 120 undergraduates and some 384 adults. They were presented with 35 different kinds of food and then they were asked as to whether or not they can control how much urge they have to eat each kind of food.

After the test, it was found that pizza is on the top of the list as the most addictive food. Fruits and vegetables were at the bottom of the list. However, the question remains to be why is it that people usually enjoy one kind of food that it comes to the point where it is difficult to control the urge to stop consuming it.

The team of researchers believes that it is because of the glycemic load. GL is the measurement of how quickly the carbohydrates in a food are absorbed into our bodies. When that happens, a person's blood glucose levels raise dramatically. The higher the load, the stronger the hit, the more addictive the food's going to be.
