Tuesday was supposed to be a joyous occasion for gamers with Bethesda Game Studios' highly anticipated game Fallout 4 set to finally hit shelves. Unfortunately, a select number of fans who ordered the title via the UK-based online retailer GAME weren't able to get their hands on the game during launch day due to a glitch in the company's ordering system.
Most issues concern the limited-edition version of Fallout 4, which has been a hot ticket ever since it was unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. According to Gamespot, numerous customers who had previously pre-ordered the sought after collector's item through GAME were blindsided when their orders were mysteriously cancelled with less than a day to go until release.
According to the report, the whole mishap was caused by Paypal/banks declining payments. The company told fans on their official Facebook page, "We can confirm there was no glitch in our system this was due to Paypal/Banks declining the payment as detailed above."
The company told Gamespot that it does have enough stock to meet all the orders, and will honor all those who previously pre-ordered the game before the cut-off.
"We would like to reassure all customers that have pre-ordered that their order is still reserved and being held for them. Stock will be secured in our distribution centre until we are able to ensure payment and delivery." Says the statement.
Hopefully the retailer can correct this error and get the limited-edition into the hands of all those who ordered.
Fallout 4 is looking every bit the smash hit many predicted it would be. Last night, the game took the top spot on Steam's player count charts with an astounding 445,000+ gamers all playing at once. The figure trumped that of popular Steam mainstays like Counter Strike: Global Offensive and DotA 2.
