'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2' Official Trailer Has Finally Arrived [VIDEO]

Universal Pictures has finally released the first trailer for "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2," on Wednesday, Nov. 11 via the NBC's Today show. And as expected, the movie looks as hilariously funny as its original, conquering its genre in 2002.

This family movie will surely make romance and humor intertwine. Fourteen years after the original debuted, the much-awaited sequel is said to be released on March 25, 2016.

Nia Vardalos penned the screenplays for both films, which are "based on her real-life experiences. "I can't write unless it comes from my real life," she exclaimed on an interview.

Its prominent line, "Love is here to stay... so is her family," never fails to struck the hearts of the viewers, especially the fans.

Vardalos returns as Toula Portokalos, who is married to John Corbett's Ian and dealing with a daughter, Paris (Elena Kampouris), failing to embrace Greek culture - despite her surroundings and the way she is reared.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 also welcomes Lainie Kazan and Michael Constantine as Toula's parents, Maria and Gus Portokalos, Louis Mandylor‏ as her brother, Nick, and Joey Fatone as her cousin Angelo - all with open arms. Newcomers in the said sequel include John Stamos and Rita Wilson, who co-produced both movies with husband Tom Hanks, while Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee, Waking Ned Devine) directed the next chapter of the film.

Variety stated on a report that the original film, starring Vardalos and Corbett, was a surprise success with $368 million in worldwide grosses. IFC distributed "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" in the U.S., where it grossed $240 million.

The long-awaited sequel still intends to highlight the real importance of family, with their cultural heritage and value system, as well as life's usual triumphs and struggles that "all ends up to mutual appreciation".
