Walmart’s Black Friday Different This Year, No More Doorbusters

This thanksgiving, Walmart will diss the traditional doorbusters even as it opens at 6 P.M. according to USA Today. In an effort to make holiday shopping easier, Walmart has set all in-store deals to be available once the stores open. The store aims to provide an easier, quicker and simpler shopping experience to their customers with this new Black Friday system.

Having doorbusters was a standard practice and was always expected during the Black Friday madness that happened every year. With doorbusters, there would be roll-outs of deals every hour starting when the store opened its doors. This is to lure in a steady stream of customers every hour and have them wait for good deals staggered all throughout the night. This often led to a lot of confusion and frustration from customers. With the new system offered this year, Walmart expects customers to have a more organised and pleasant shopping experience.

On top of all deals being offered at 6 P.M., online deals will also be available starting 12.01 A.M. on Thanksgiving. This means online shoppers will already have a chance to grab some deals even before the store opens and get to do so right at the comfort of their homes.

Thanks to all these new offerings, Walmart is giving this Thanksgiving tradition and official start of the holiday shopping period a less chaotic and more organised experience for everybody.

While stores like Walmart and Best Buy prepare for the rush of customers on Thanksgiving, retail stores like H&M, Staples and GameStop are doing the complete opposite as they shut their doors and stay closed during this holiday. According to Los Angeles Times, these stores want to give their employees time to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families and they really don't see how closing can drastically affect their sales as they will be open again on Friday.
