David Hasselhoff: Actor Drops Hassel And Changes Name To Hoff, Is It For Real?

Actor-producer David Hasselhoff, who has set several Guinness World Records for being the most watched man on television, revealed that he has officially changed his name to David Hoff, but it turned out that he was just having some fun with his fans.

Reports say that the 'Knight Rider' star, who is popularly nicknamed as 'The Hoff', has claimed that he had been wanting to change his name and is very happy to have finally made it.

"I've been wanting to drop the Hassel from my life for years. Now I have made it official." the 63-year old announced via video, showing off some documents bearing his new shortened surname.

Besides making the shocking announcement, which immediately became viral on social media, David also took the false declaration on Twitter as he wrote "Big news today and a massive relief for me. I hope everyone can understand... it feels great!"

Not too long after the video was posted, a representative for Hasselhoff issued a statement, saying "It's an excerpt from an ad campaign that launches in Australia this weekend. David is just having some fun and more will be revealed in the next 24 hours."

While the veteran actor is currently busy finishing up some projects on the row, he has also recently talked about his take on the most discussed upcoming movie 'Baywatch', adding that he would only agree to be a part of it if the plot remains to its original storyline.

When being asked if he has been offered to take a role in the film, David quickly replied "I don't really know if I'm in it. I don't really know if I want to be in it."

David also revealed that he was also previously offered a role in the same movie version of 'Knight Rider' but was unfortunately not impressed with the handed scripts.

"You know, I saw a Knight Rider script and I hated it. The girl said, 'What did you think?' And I said, 'When I got to my part the script flew out of my hand.' I never saw it again.' He explained.

He continued,  "You know, if Knight Rider is true to Knight Rider, I would do it. If Baywatch is going to be a joke, I don't think so."
