Justice League Update: New Female Hero Expected? Who Is She? [RELEASE DATE, CAST, RUMORS & SPOILERS]

WARNING: POTENTIAL "JUSTICE LEAGUE: PART ONE" SPOILERS AHEAD!

It looks like it isn't only Wonder Woman who is set to appear as a heroine in the "Justice League: Part One." Rumors claim that the film will debut another DC Comics female hero and that it would be Mera, the Queen of Atlantis.

According to a new report via Heroic Hollywood, Mera will be making her debut in the DC Extended Universe through the "Justice League: Part One," DC's first ensemble film.

Warner Bros. has reportedly told talent agencies to look for Mera's background information for the first "Justice League" film. While the "Justice League: Part One rumors suggest that Mera is set to appear in the film, it remains unclear whether she will indeed be joining the core Justice League team.

The recent speculation comes before the 2018 film "Aquaman," which was suspected to be Mera's first appearance in a movie.

In the Heroic Hollywood Report, Mera is described as "the Khaleesi of the sea," and "Aquaman's true love."

Mera and Aquaman's marriage in the comics represents a unison in the Atlantis throne which families of both sides have been vying for, according to Comicbook.com.

Since Mera is the Queen of Atlantis, she has superpowers like her husband. Her powers however, were developed from a life of living underwater. Her powers reportedly include super strength and the ability to control large quantities of water. According to Comic Book Resources, the couple have a son in pre-New 52 continuity.

As of the current moment, details about the film's version for Mera remain unknown.

Meanwhile, the "Aquaman" film starring Jason Momoa, is expected to be released on July 27, 2018. Momoa is also expected to star in "Justice League: Part One," set for November 17, 2017, and "Justice League: Part Two," set for 2019.

If Mera is to appear in "Justice League: Part One," then she will most definitely appear in "Aquaman" too.

The "Justice League: Part One" cast has not yet been released.

Meanwhile, the next DC Cinematic Universe instalment, "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," will be released in theaters  March 25, 2016. It is directed by Zack Snyder, and stars Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman).
