Authorities Says US Band, Eagles Of Death Metal, Are Now Safe After Paris Terrorist Attack

Eagles of Death Metal, a California-based band that was to perform at the Bataclan were all in safe hands, according to a U.S. official. The information was briefed by the Justice Department.

Bataclan is a theater situated in eastern Paris. It is one of the places where the Friday night's deadly attack occurred. It is also close to the Oberkampf vicinity where people within were taken as hostages.

In a French authority report, at least 120 people at six different places were killed because of shootings and explosions.

Because of the anonymity of the situation, U.S. officials are not authorized to publicly discuss the briefing and to discuss the information to The Associated Press.

Michael Dorio, the brother of the band's drummer Jualian Dorio, told to Atlanta Journal Constitution that all the members escaped the concert hall out of harm's way.

"They saw a man with a machine gun just opening fire," he told. According to Michael, the band members lie on the floor after spotting the gunmen and then ran out a backstage door going to a near police station, where Julian Dorio borrowed someone's cell phone to contact his family in Atlanta.

AJC reports, Julian Dorio is not actually a permanent part of the group but had just joined it on a European tour.

Earlier Friday, the band management said they were "trying to determine the safety and whereabouts" of the group and its team.

Formed in 1998in Palm Desert, California, the band celebrates the October launching of their first album in seven years, "Zipper Down", including a European tour.

Though the band name is Eagles of Death Metal, their sounds are a mix of blues rock and garage rock.

Their tour planned dates were listed in their website that includes stops in Munich, Stockholm, Rome and Barcelona.
