Singer JoJo's Father Dies at 60, Read Her Touching Tribute

Singer and actress Jojo announced in a tender tribute Saturday night that her father, Joel Levesque, died earlier that day at the age of 60.

"I missed you even while you were here. I will miss you infinitely more now that you're gone. Thank you for holding on as long as you did. I know you tried your best. You are free now. I will love you always, Dad. I can feel you with me. Rest now. In PEACE. I miss your voice. I wish more people could have heard it. I promise I will keep singing for you."

JoJo's real name Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque. She is the daughter of two musicians, as her dad Joel was a blues singer and her mother Diana sang in church as a soloist and also dabbled in musical theatre.

The couple divorced when JoJo was three so she was largely raised by her mother.

In the 2000s, the 13-year-old JoJo rose to fame with her R&B and soul-flavored hits.

She became the youngest star to have a No 1 single on the Hot 100 charts with her song Leave (Get Out) at the age of 13.

Even though her childhood was filled with blissful singing, she and loved ones are now performing dirges to honor patriarch Joel's memory in light of his passing.

JoJo has just made a musical comeback with her 2015 EP III following years of being engaged in a legal conflict with her former record label Blackground Music.

Due to the court battle she was unable to release a full LP for over a decade and JoJo previously spoke about how she suffered deeply for not being able to share new sounds with fans for so long.

She also released three new singles, her first commercial music in years, in August and appeared in the films Aquamarine and RV.
