Australian Parents In Uproar Over Infant Formula Bulk Buys

Australian parents are talking to social media in uproar as they worry over not being able to purchase their favorite infant formula brands.

Australian Food News reported that shoppers are saying on Facebook and other social media sites that the famous A2 Milk Company and Bellamy's Organic formula are flying off shelves even faster than the usual.

The "Single's Day" in China on Wednesday, Nov. 11, the country's biggest yearly online shopping event, has been listed amongst reasons why demand suddenly increased. Anger from Australian parents has been increased on after a mother posted a photograph of a group buying an entire pallet of A2 infant formula in a Victorian Woolworths supermarket.

Woolworths stated it has an eight cans per transaction only policy. It also said that it is investigating why the group were allowed to purchase so much formula at one time.

Coles, on the other hand, it presently implementing a four can per customer policy. Chemist Warehouse, another famous stockist of infant formula, said its customers are only allowed to purchase two products at one time.

Chief Executive for the Australian and New Zealand divisions of The A2 Milk Company Peter Nathan divulged to AFN that the demand for its infant formula has particularly increased over the past six months.  He stated that the company is significantly increasing its output but there will be lead times due to its milk coming from cows which only produce the A2 protein.

Meanwhile, Bellamy's Organic had not yet retorted to AFN's contact request. However, it has issued statements on its official Facebook page.
