Shannen Doherty Makes Her First Celebrity Appearance Since Revealing Breast Cancer Diagnosis

After Shannen Doherty announced that she has breast cancer , she said that she is taking life one step at a time.

Since she revealed her diagnosis to PEOPLE exclusively in August, the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress made her first red carpet appearance on Saturday.

She wore a sleeveless, black Vera Wang gown, which she accessorized with dangly earrings and a stack of silver bangles, as she stepped out at the Baby2Baby gala in Los Angeles.

It looks like the 44-year-old old star is not just bravely fighting cancer but also fighting her one-time business manager from Tanner, Mainstain, Glynn & Johnson.

The star confirmed her diagnosis, over a week ago after it was revealed by TMZ that she was suing her former business manager's company as he had alleged did not paid her health insurance premiums which could have made the difference in providing her with the necessary diagnosis and treatment at the earliest possible time.

According to the reports, the progression of the disease could have been curtailed by gentler treatment had it been detected and diagnosed earlier. There's a big possibility that they need not resort to chemotherapy and mastectomy. The company she has taken legal action on has denied any wrong doing on their part.

"Tanner Mainstain is saddened to learn that Ms. Doherty is suffering from cancer and wishes her a full recovery." The business management company's representative told People.

Shannen has been unable to work since the diagnosis and has had to pay 'significant' medical expenses according to the star's lawyer.

The suit read, “In November 2013, SAG sent the premium invoice to Tanner Maintain for Plaintiff’s medical insurance coverage for the year 2014. However, Defendants ignore it, failed to pay it (without informing Plaintiff) and then promptly terminated their relationship with [Doherty] effective February 7, 2014.”

It was in March when Shannen was diagnosed with the disease and she is currently undergoing treatment. She has said she plans to stay active and healthy to try to beat cancer.

Doherty was spotted in September having lunch in Malibu with her husband, Kurt Iswarienko. With them were her fellow Charmed alum Holly Marie Combs, and the actress’ son, Finley. In January, Off the Map, a road trip reality show which stars Doherty and Combs together will premiere on the Great American Country.
